This is the sturdy kind. Not the leather pad that can be rolled. Love it.Perfect. Just what he wanted. No flaws at all.10/02/2016 UPDATE: I emailed the seller who emailed me back requesting that I provide:"order ID and products photos for us.we need them to check it for you." I provided the requested information but I never heard anything back. So I take that to mean there is no brown version available even though the item is described as brown. I took off one star for wasting my time.08/29/2016 UPDATE: I reordered and they again shipped black instead of brown. The label on the outer wrapper seems to indicate brown and the product description (as of this writing) indicates brown. So be cautious of you really must have brown. Otherwise, a good product.I ordered four these for a small office glass conference room table that was getting scratched. I was concerned about the size and whether they would just look like dinner table place mats. Well, they are very thick and sturdy, and the size is just right for my application. In the picture I have one of the top flaps raised to show how it works. There seems to be magnets embedded into the flap to clamp it down when not raised. Overall seems to work well. The description of this particular version indicates color brown, but the pictures seem to be black, and the product as delivered is black. I will return and reorder and see if I get the correct color. But other than the color issue, seems well made.As described. Nice weight and thickness. No smell. Magnetic strip on top is really handy for papers and notes so they don’t “disappear.” Sixes as described. Smooth feel.I have an old "roll-top" desk that has a rather small area (Due to stacked cubby-holes) for writing. There aren't many small writing blotters, and this one fits the small area almost perfectly. Note: the listed size of the board is with the paper clip closed.This would also be a good writing pad for each person at a large table - as in a board meeting, to keep a nice table/desk protected.The desk pad itself is great however, it slips and slides on the desk. There surface on the underside does not grip to the desktop. Just be mindful of this when considering this desk pad.Unlike some desk mats that have a foam backing (which breaks down over time and ruins wood finishes), I purchased the KINGFOM mat which has a textured cloth backing which offers protection without damaging wood desks, and the PU leather (synthetic) surface is good for writing on and looks and feels like real leather. All in all a really nice, well-made desk mat that does what it's supposed to do - protect desk tops.Although the white stitching looks nice, spills might stain it. I bought a posh new desk after Christmas for my posh new iMac and didn’t want to get marks on the desk so decided to find something to place my keyboard and Trackpad on. This is the perfect size. There were lots to choose from but they were all much too big. This desk pad looks very nice in its black leather finish. It is just the right size for my keyboard and Trackpad. I can’t say that the paper clip bit at the top is much use, to be fair, but I use the extra height it gives to place my external hard drive on to connect it to my Mac. Love it, love it, love it.I love to write handwritten letters and needed a writing pad I could move from my desk, to the coffee table, to the garden, to my bedroom and easily keep my letters organized. I chose this pad based on customer reviews and was very pleased with the pad from the moment it arrived.The surface texture is perfect for ballpoint, roller-ball or fountain pen writing and that quality is what I look for when finding a writing surface. I do however prefer a solid surface such as a drafting board when writing with pencil.This pad has what the manufacturer calls a 'paper clip' and is seen in the product photograph as a black strip along the top length of the pad. That strip is held down by magnets and it holds papers in place when moving around or writing outside on a breezy day. I find that strip very useful as whenever I want to take a break, I can grip my papers under the strip and then leave the pad against the sofa or wall until I am ready to write again. Then I have everything laid out as where I left off and am ready to go. This feature allows me to stay focussed without needing a dedicated space solely for one writing project. The underside of the strip is of the same build quality as the rest of the pad and is completely flush too.The writing pad does flex somewhat when pressed hard though appears to return to completely flat when released and is rigid enough to support my writing even when balanced on my knees or on top of a cushion.This writing pad is good value for money. I have made my own writing pads in the past and know it would cost almost the same to make a writing pad as to buy this one. Also, I would buy this writing pad again and as mentioned, I am pleased with the purchase.The pad appears to be well built and looks like a quality desk accessory that matches my black E+M pen pot, black Alienware laptop, etc. The surface appears to be easy to clean. I tried writing on it using a blue water based ink and was able to wipe the ink clean. I expect with a minimum of care this pad will last me for many years.My 20 year + pine desk was looking a little sad, also was no longer smooth so it was necessary to get a desk mat .At first I could not find one that was a suitable size.Then I located the 18" x 14" (A3) as above and it's just the job Love It.Good quality. Item as described. I am using it as a blotting pat so as not to damaged my fancy desk. Exactly what I wanted.Very smart and and an excellent size - perfectly accommodates a keyboard and mouse!
