Many record cleaners made today do not do a good job. This Discwasher D4+ set is made like the ones in the "old days". Back when there were lots of listeners that really KNEW vinyl records!I have original release "old" records that have collector value. I will not hesitate to use this cleaner.I bought this to possibly replace my 40 year old discwasher brush that my dad bought for me in 1978. It's starting to unravel a little bit near the handle but it doesn't affect the usage at all. I figured I'd spent 20 bucks on worse so what the heck. The new brush is lacking in certain areas. Mind you, neither one should be considered a high level cleaner.Firstly, the new brush is shaped a little differently and is a little pregnant in the middle. The cleaning area doesn't seem to cover an entire side of an LP and the debris on the brush after a cleaning seems minimal. When I follow behind with the old brush, I always come away with a significantly larger amount of dirt. This is AFTER making a pass with the new brush.Secondly, the pump spray bottle is cheap and wears out after a few uses. It is also a highly inefficient way to apply the fluid, as a lot of it ends up on the wooden handle. The old manner of applying a few drops to brush and spreading it with bottom of bottle was much more effective. The old brush still beats this one hands down. It also is made with a hollowed out area in the handle to store the fluid and dust brush. The new one comes with a pleather drawstring bag. Meh.I'm not familiar with any of the newer inexpensive systems so I can't offer other worthwhile suggestions. The next step is spending larger sums of money on a professional level cleaner.Tried and true, used this from origin nameplate. Only wish fluid hole would have been carved out like original.Having recently purchased a turntable and begun spinning albums that haven't been played in 25+ years, I knew I wanted another disc cleaner to remove dust and possible fingerprints. The D+ cleaner used with the cleaning liquid does the trick! Was always happy with my old, original Discwasher - and this D4 system is the simplest way to adequately clean and prepare for play all record albums.used this to restore imagine from john Lennon... The record sounds great.Probably the closest thing to the original Dishwasher I used long ago. My issues:1. Face bows from end to end, it will not cover LP completely, have to rock back and forth.2. Sprayer sticks, have to pull top up after each spray.3. Made in China.....why can't we produce this?It does a good job otherwise, it's amazing how much dust, etc it removes. It will not take off the blacklight paint or candle wax from the 60's -70's.............EZ to use. works wellA necessity and standard item for serious vinyl owners.
