So I've been experimenting with this pad and I have to say I love it so far. I have the Roland TD-11KV kit using the TD-25 module. I wanted a larger snare so I got this and used the PDX-8 pad that came with my kit as a fourth tom which worked out perfectly for me. The TD-25 module has two extra trigger inputs which made this possible. The feel of this pad is great! It has a really nice bounce to it. The PDX-8 pad is only two inches smaller and it worked great as a snare, but those extra two inches on this pad made a huge difference. I found that I don't hit the rim by accident as much. I'm still a huge fan of the PDX-6 and PDX-8 pads that came with my kit though. They're great pads as well. Now for the "hotspot" issue. I did a lot of research online about this and it was the only thing holding me back from buying it. I decided to get it anyway and I can tell you that there is a hotspot on this pad. However, this really boils down to how picky you are. For what it's worth, I'm SUPER picky about my snare drum and this really isn't a big deal friends.I did multiple tests on this and I found it was actually pretty rare that I hit it. This pad has a 10" head and if you position it right you won't have any issues. I have it positioned so that I'm mainly hitting it 2-1/2-3" from the rim which avoids hitting the hotspot anyway, and when I do hit it it's not that noticeable. Again, just my opinion. Hope this helps!
